When fishing for Largemouth yellowfish, it’s important to focus on the slower, deeper sections of the river. These fish tend to congregate in areas with a moderate current and a good amount of structure, such as rocks, logs, and weed beds. Look for areas where the river begins to widen and slow down, as these are prime locations for smallmouth yellowfish.

Smallmouth yellowfish, on the other hand, tend to be found in faster-moving sections of the river, such as rapids and riffles. These fish are known for their powerful runs, so it’s important to use a rod with a fast action and a good amount of backbone. When targeting largemouth yellowfish, focus on the faster-moving water and look for areas where the river drops quickly.
